Your margin moved. Not your revenue - your margin.

Short answer

Notifcentral computes margin after Amazon fees, cost of goods and advertising spend, and pushes an alert when it drops by more than your threshold - ten percentage points by default. Revenue dashboards show sales going up while margin quietly goes down; this alert watches the number that actually pays you.

How Notifcentral detects it

Data source

Profit reconciliation across fees, COGS and ad spend

How often

Every 6 hours

Margin is computed from settled financial events, your imported COGS, and advertising cost, then compared against the prior period. A drop beyond the configured threshold raises the alert. The default is a ten percentage point move.

What the alert actually looks like

These are the real notification strings the app sends, not mockups. Values are illustrative; the wording is not.

Notifcentral

Margin dropped

Margin fell 11.0 pp - now 21.0%, down from 32.0% yesterday.

What it costs to find out late

Revenue can rise while you lose money.

A fee increase, an ad spend creep and a competitor undercut can all land in the same week. Each one alone is survivable; together they invert the unit economics while the sales graph keeps climbing.

Little cost bumps quietly stack up.

A $0.20 pick-and-pack bump. A supplier hike. A discount you forgot to end. None of them page you, and none of them show up until the P&L closes.

What to do when it fires

  1. Import your COGS

Margin is only as honest as the cost basis behind it. The app imports a COGS sheet by CSV and shows what percentage of your catalogue is covered.

  2. Check fee alerts from the same window

A margin drop with a fee change in the preceding days usually has a single cause, and the fee alert already has the before/after numbers.

  3. Look at ad spend, not just fees

The profit view separates net-after-advertising and reports TACoS, which is where a margin drop with no fee change usually hides.

Questions about profit margin alerts

A ten percentage point drop by default.

Yes. Profit is computed after fees, COGS and advertising, and the app reports net-after-ads alongside TACoS.

Margin needs a cost basis to be meaningful. Without COGS the app tells you coverage is incomplete rather than reporting a confident but wrong number.
